Richard jones
Euphonium Teacher
Richard Jones is a Southern Californian native, born and raised. As a young child, he developed a fondness of music, before picking up the trombone in the 5th grade, and eventually the euphonium in high school. During high school is where his love for music really took shape, as he participated in the concert, marching, and jazz bands, as well as the indoor drumline. After high school, he went on to march with the Santa Clara Vanguard and Vanguard Cadets drum and bugle corps, taking home a world championship in 2018. Richard attended both Irvine Valley College and California State University, Long Beach, where he was awarded his Bachelors’ Degree in Music Education. He studied under Tony Mazzaferro and Gabe Sears over the years of school. During his time at these institutions, he was provided ample opportunities to play on various stages around the state and country, participating at various conferences such as CBDNA and MACCC. Richard has been a freelance educator and musician in Southern California for years now, teaching and writing for various high school marching bands in the area. He is currently teaching full-time down in Aliso Viejo, where he is an instructional assistant at a local high school. Often he will be seen performing with local ensembles, such as Symphonic Winds of the Pacific or the Corona Symphony.
